Melissa McCarthy: 'Bridesmaids' Sequel Without Kristen Wiig Is a 'Terrible Idea'

'Bridesmaids' fans aren't the only ones flipping out over the possibility of a Kristen Wiig-less sequel -- co-star Melissa McCarthy isn't so hot on the idea either. Last week, Universal said they were entertaining the possibility of doing 'Bridesmaids 2,' sans Wiig. When McCarthy was asked about this over the weekend, she did not seem too happy about. "God, I wouldn't want to, I would never want to. I think it's a terrible idea," the actress told E! 'Bridesmaids,' which turned into one of the most surprising box office successes of 2011, made instant stars out of SNL's Wiig -- who has been nominated for a Golden Globe -- and McCarthy. While there aren't any concrete story lines for a sequel, one idea that was floated by Universal revolved around McCarthy's character. Good luck with that now, folks! Hollywood heads to CES

The Customer Electronics Show in Vegas is anticipated to draw in executives from all the major galleries. After investing yesteryear year swept up with how you can electronically distribute its content, Hollywood is certain to face another round of dialogue and dealmaking with the beginning of the customer Electronics Show. What will get proven off in Vegas now will not be remaining in Las vegas for very lengthy.Beginning having a round of back-to-back press conferences from heavyweights like LG, Apple, Panasonic, Ford, Samsung and The new sony, together with Microsoft's final keynote at CES today, the brand new hardware that'll be talked about will end up in consumers' hands or houses through the finish of the season. A minimum of this is the goal for that nearly $200 billion electronic devices biz, who's biggest confab runs through Jan. 13. This past year, customers spent $190 billion on electronics, up 5.6%, based on CES-owner the customer Electronics Assn. With each new device comes another platform that Hollywood can exploit in an effort to generate more digital dollars using its movies, Television shows and music.Once centered by hardware makers, Hollywood continues to be making its presence felt through the years. This past year, a lot more than 9,000 from the 150,000 that attend CES registered for that inaugural Entertainment Matters program, that guides people that actually work in entertainment with the frequently overwhelming Vegas Convention Center show floor, keynotes and panel periods. The 2010 sophomore year is backed by Variety and Ericsson."We desired to result in the show simpler to allow them to navigate," stated Karen Chupka, senior Vice president, occasions and conferences at CEA, "and explain things they'd actually want to see." More from Hollywood are anticipated this season, with executives from all the major galleries, systems, videogame marketers, talent agencies, together with individual producers, company directors along with other creatives set to consider conferences or speak on sections at CES, while indies such as the Weinstein Co. and Miramax may also be thinking about new methods to distribute their libraries of films and giant web tv stations like YouTube and Netflix is going to be searching for content deals.Stars attending now include, Tom Hanks, Will Cruz, helmers Craig Sonnenfeld and makeup vet Ron Baker. For Hollywood, CES begins having a party tonight in the Wynn Las Vegas' Tryst nightclub, where a lot more than 1,500 visitors will attend the kickoff event, created by Michael Kassan's Medialink. Through the years, Kassan's firm has paired up Hollywood with Madison Avenue. At CES he connects both towards the tech biz."It is a classic mashup," of reps from all the various industries stated Kassan, that they hopes will encourage discussion from the new distribution models effecting each sector. "It's such as the conversation ten years ago when individuals spoken about Madison and Vine, Plastic Valley and Taiwan," Kassan added. "Beginning the conversation early with Hollywood designed a difference. Beginning the conversation early with Microsoft, Google, Yahoo made the conversation different. Beginning the conversation early with electronics producers helps make the conversation different. This is because CES may be the reveal that released the VCR, Compact disc, DVD, Blu-ray, High definition tv, three dimensional TV, Televisions that connect to the net along with a slew of non-Apple-made tablet computer systems. After previous years focused heavily on three dimensional TV, web-hooking up Televisions whose screens are full of applications like Facebook and Netflix, and tablet computer systems, the 2010 CES is anticipated to center around the Ultrabook -- a skinny laptop that does not have a harddrive and saves or grabs content in the cloud -- with a lot of hardware makers likely to introduce the unit that Apple had recently been selling because the Mac laptop Air. Apple created the Ultrabook term to obtain hardware makers like Dell, Lenovo and Acer, amongst others, to produce a brand new group of laptop to contend with Apple and make up a cool product because of its chips that galleries have accepted in an effort to securely deliver digital HD versions of the films. With lcd TV sales slowing down, hardware makers will promote a brand new type of even flatter Televisions, full of applications, obviously. With prices shedding, others will push bigger screens thinking about sales of individuals that measure a lot more than 40-inches are anticipated to develop 12% this season, experts say. Along with the cost of the 50-inch screen falling below $1,000 this season and 60-inchers shedding below $2,000, galleries and participants convey more to stress about if this involves customers choosing to look at more movies in your own home. Although, sales of three dimensional Televisions are soft within the U.S., 23 million three dimensional Televisions are anticipated to ship worldwide this season, using more than 100 million models to ship by 2015. Consequently, expect tv stations like ESPN and Discovery to advertise new three dimensional programming to encourage purchasing new sets or give individuals who bought them something to look at.Numerous tablet makers may also be revealing their latest mobile screens to contend with Apple's iPad, mainly because deliveries from the pills are anticipated to a lot more than triple this season, growing from 17.six million this year to 55.two million this season, based on Juniper Research. It forecasts 253 million models to ship worldwide in 2016.Automotive, an increasing presence at CES, may also be a large draw, with carmakers like Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Audi, Hyundai, and Vehicle hyping their up-to-date in-vehicle entertainment systems, that depend heavily on connections to applications available on consumers' mobile phones and pills and connections towards the cloud to gain access to data. GM's Cadillac division chose CES to showcase its new Signal infotainment system, as opposed to the massive United States Intl Auto Show, in Detroit, also now.The 2010 CES features a seminar on new methods movies and television shows could find yourself playing in cars, that has attracted numerous entertainment executives."There's no doubt there might be a possible VOD application in the future," David Glasser, chief operating officer from the Weinstein Co. told Variety. "I most likely scratched my mind and stated, 'Really?' However I guess if kids might get VOD at the back of their vehicle instead of me transporting the DVD that will get caught on the ground and walked on, (I believe that's) coming." One company that will not be returning to CES following this year, is going to be Microsoft -- a minimum of less charge keynote or among its 2,700 participants. The organization adopted Apple's proceed to use other occasions to advertise its new items throughout every season. Apple has walked from industry events entirely. For making the announcement to depart following this year, "Our product news key events generally don't align using the show's The month of january timing," communications Vice president Frank Shaw authored inside a company blog.(Rachel Abrams led for this report).
